Yo, guys. 3K here! I'm here with a project that (hopefully) won't go under the rug so easily. It's a multiplayer project for everyone to be able to play with each other.

I bring you Ikemen. Ikemen is a fighting game engine that uses most of what MUGEN (I believe WinMugen, or 1.0.) had and reformats it to be specifically for online play and practicing for online play.

This project will use a system for deciding characters I like to call the Squad System. This system is fairly simple; each regular user gets 4 characters to pick from, as well as their favorite color to be included as a palette for each character and a theme song. Of course, this comes with a few rules to keep the balance of the universe game.

Characters I WILL allow:

  • Fighting game characters who stay true to their roots.
  • Fighting game characters who play differently than they used to.
  • Joke characters - so long as they're balanced.
  • Unbalanced (but not cheap) characters. I'll rebalance them myself.

Characters I WON'T allow:

  • Cheapies - sorry, no Duane this time.
  • Characters that are blatantly bad or don't work.
  • Giants, it'd be a little awkward...
  • Chibis - sort of. This one is a little hard to say, I'll do extra quality assurance on them.
  • Yaoi/hentai characters. I don't need to explain this one!
  • Bonus stages. Again, I don't need to explain this.
  • Boss characters or characters that can only be controlled by the AI.
  • Characters that have already been picked - they're going to be in the roster anyway.

When submitting, check the availability of the chatacter! There's two great places where you can look them up.

Other questions and answers[]

Q: Can I have an extra character?

A: No.

Q: The character I want isn't available! What do I do?

A: I can't include them if that's the case...

Q: The character I want is a WIP character...

A: Substitute the character for now, if they become available anytime soon, they'll be in!

Q: What about the stages?

A: I plan to base all of the stages off of retro and modern fighting games, but stage requests are perfectly fine of course, just make sure to follow the character rules and stuff!

Q: How do we connect to one another?

A: I believe Hamachi should work! When joining a netplay match, put in the opponent's Hamachi IP! When hosting, leave the IP box blank!
